To ensure Erina Heights Vet Hospital provides the highest level of professional care for your family pet, continuing veterinary education is essential for both our vets and nursing staff. Our vets regularly attend annual postgraduate veterinary conferences within Australia and overseas. And our highly trained and experienced nursing staff attend a variety of courses. EHVH currently has 7 nurses with Certificate IV accreditation in nursing and surgical procedures.
Michael Jones - BVSc Hons (Syd)
38 years in this practice with extensive experience in small animal medicine and surgery. He is the longest serving fulltime veterinarian on the Central Coast. Interests include orthopaedic repairs, dentistry, reproductive and breeding medicine, and skin diseases. Post graduate certification in radiology (including PennHip registration) and regular attendance at post graduate continuing education courses in orthopaedics, echocardiography, reproduction etc ensures the latest advances in treatments and surgical techniques are applied to your family pet. Michael attends orthopaedic conferences in Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide & Wagga regularly, studying specific conditions of cruciates, canine hips & pelvis. An opthalmic surgery workshop at the Gatton Campus of QLD University over two days with three of Australia's top specialist opthalmologists was very rewarding. In 2016, Michael attends the AVA conference in Adelaide, and surgical workshop for Ossability TTA for canine cruciate ligament disease. Away from work Michael's main passion is scuba diving (both he & his son are rescue divers) followed by a close second is the leisurely intensity of gardening.
Melissa Kozaruk - BVSc Hons (Syd)
Melissa graduated with first class honours from Sydney University in 2012. Originally from the Central Coast, Melissa returned to her home town after graduation to join the team at EHVH. Her veterinary interests include emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery and orthopaedic surgery. Melissa recently attended a workshop on Stifle Surgery and Tibial Tuberosity Advancement. She is also part way through a Masters Degree in Veterinary Medicine (Massey University, New Zealand), undertaking further post graduate training in soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine and endocrinology. Melissa competes in many dog sports with her Australian Shepherd Evie, including showing, obedience, agility and Dock Dogs. Melissa and Evie are also an accredited DELTA dog team, visiting nursing homes and hospitals in their spare time.
Alice Dunn - BA Hons BVSc (Syd)
Alice graduated from Sydney University in 2008. She joins Erina Heights after working in mixed practice in the Hunter Valley and small animal practice in Sydney. Alice is working part-time with us, balancing her passion for veterinary care with her young family. Her special interests include soft tissue surgery, internal and emergency medicine, dermatologies and clinical pathology. Alice owns the 'perfect dog' - her rescued greyhound and enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Jesse Hughes - BVSc Hons (Syd)
Jesse graduated with honours from Sydney University in 2007. Originally from Tasmania, he moved to the Central Coast following graduation and now wouldn't live anywhere else. His special interests include both soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics, opthalmology and reptile medicine and surgery. His interest in opthalmology was further cemented after a post graduate conference in 2013. And recently he completed further postgraduate studies in rabbits, guinea pigs and other pocket pets, and loves to see these animals at EHVH. Outside of work Jesse loves to spend time with his wife and young daughter, two dogs and two cats. He is also a passionate football fan and Mariners' supporter.
Jacqueline Letondeur - BAppSci.
(Radiography) BVSc. (Sydney)
Jacqui graduated from Sydney University with degrees in both human Radiography and Veterinary Science. Originally from Far North Queensland, Jacqui has relocated to the Central Coast to join the team at Erina Heights after work experience in mixed and rural practice. She enjoys being a Veterinarian immensely and has special interests in medical imaging, soft tissue surgery, wildlife and pocket pets. When not on duty, Jacqui loves to spend time outdoors with friends and family and her two dogs, Clyde & Zuko.
Holly Boyden - BVSc. Merit
Holly graduated from Sydney University with BVSc (Merit) in 2008. Prior to joining the team at EHVH she has worked in the UK & at North Shore Veterinary Hospital and Specialist Centre, where as a GP she worked alongside specialists from multiple disciplines. During this time, she developed an interest in emergency medicine and surgery, attending the Emergency Medicine Conference 2016, and will sit her Emergency and Critical Care membership exams mid-2017. Holly really enjoys the friendly team environment at EHVH and the high standards of animal care. In her spare time, Holly loves to exercise (F45 and yoga are particular favourites), and also loves spending time with her husband and her little old lady pug, Gup.
Jade Bridge - Cert IV Veterinary Nurse
Jade completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Kurri Kurri TAFE with flying colours in November 2011 and now joins the EHVH team full-time, providing our clients with the latest in pet care advice. Previously she graduated with first place in her Certificate II Animal Studies. Jade is qualified in animal physiotherapy with emphasis on treadmill therapy and her work with patients on the treadmill is greatly appreciated by their owners, who witness remarkable results in their family pet's mobility. Jade is a mother to Rocky a DSH Cat, Shelby a Murray River Short Neck Turtle and Monty a Stimsons Python.
Leah Noble - Cert IV Veterinary Nurse
Leah joined our team in 2012 with 3 years experience in veterinary nursing and also training in pet grooming. She will be more than likely, the first 'smiley' face you see as you're welcomed in reception at EHVH. Leah also runs our Puppy Preschool course at the hospital during the week with small classes, which are so essential for socializing young puppies.She is particularly interested in animal behaviour. In her daily schedule at Erina Hts Vet she enjoys anaesthetic monitoring and surgical assistance. Both her Staffordshire terriers Bali and Scar keep her busy away from work; as does her favourite pastimes of bush walking, beach going and camping.
Jacqui Collins - Cert lV Veterinary Nurse
We welcome Jacqui's return to Erina Heights Vet Hospital after a short secondment in Sydney, where she worked in a northern suburbs veterinary hospital. Jacqui loves all aspects of veterinary nursing with a bias towards surgical nursing and the rehabilitation of pets following injury or surgery. In particular, the use of our heated underwater treadmill for arthritic canines or post orthopaedic surgical patients. Jacqui is mum to a Pug x Cavalier called Brutus.
Angela Terlato - Cert IV Veterinary Nurse
Angela completed her Certificate lV in Veterinary Nursing in 2012. After studying and working in Perth for two years at a busy small animal practice, she recently joined the EHVH team in 2013 after a move back to NSW to be closer to family. Angela enjoys all aspects of Veterinary nursing and plans to expand her knowledge commencing a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 2014, whilst working part-time at EHVH. Angela's furry family include an affectionate Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Bethany and a shy rescue DSH cat Eliza.
Kelsie White - Cert IV Veterinary Nurse
Kelsie joins EHVH with a wealth of experience as a Cert lV veterinary nurse. She is passionate about providing the best possible outcome for 'happy' pet owners and their beloved 'healthy' pets. Keen to assist in strengthening that special bond with your family pet. Kelsie is a keen animal rescue volunteer, fostering cats including three moggies under her own roof - Splash, Ebony and Mdog.
Katrina Lavictoire - Cert lV Veterinary Nurse
Our most recent Cert lV graduate, passing with flying colours in November 2015! She loves nursing, so much so, her menagerie at home includes two dogs, two cats, four finches, two parrots, two budgies, one rabbit and three chickens. Yes she owns a zoo! She looks forward to meeting you and your pet when you next visit us at Erina Heights Vet Hospital.
Kali Gordon - Cert lV
Following a lifelong dream to work in the veterinary industry, Kali is currently completing her final year of Cert lV nursing. Growing up with birds, pocket pets, cats and dogs, she has always had a passion for animals. Recent years have seen her volunteer at the Australian Reptile Park and the Doggy Day Care Centre, prior to joining the team at EHVH. Kali enjoys walks on the beach with her fur babies Kiari, a very energetic and loving labrador and Axle an over friendly, mischievous rottweiler puppy.
Cody Gilmore - Veterinary Nurse
Cody has recently joined the team at EHVH. Originally from Gladstone Queensland, with a stint working with crocodiles in Darwin. Cody has managed a regional pound liasing with the RSPCA; and then merged into veterinary nursing where she seems to have found her niche. She is trained in behaviourial assessment in dogs for rehoming; and is comfortable with the large and not so friendly dogs. She has settled on Central Coast with her partner and Blue Heeler Trip and has an interest in ferrets to wean her off crocodiles as they are few and far between at this latitude.
Shannon Jolliff - Cert lV
Shannon joined our team early in 2015, whilst completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Gosford TAFE. She has a particular interest in post-operative care and is an integral member of our team offering treadmill therapy, sharing her knowledge of hydrotherapy & it's benefits to orthopaedic or arthritic patients. Shannon is also keen to shape our youngest family pets in our weekly Puppy Preschool classes, encouraging the establishment of healthy behaviour patterns early. Shannon has been a part of the Central Coast community her whole life and has grown up with a multitude of pets. Currently, Captain Jack Sparrow is her fellow feathered companion.
Emma Bertrand - Cert lV
Emma recently joined the EHVH team and has fallen in love with the family vibe that oozes from the EHV walls. Attaining her Certificate lV qualification in 2012, Emma is also qualified in Certificate III Captive Animals, volunteering at the Australia Reptile Park and Taronga Zoo wildlife hospital. Emma loves helping pet owners learn new ways to care for their fur babies & overcome challenges that may arise, especially for new pet parents! Puppydom can be tough sometimes, so if you ever have a question about your pet, big or small, feel free to ask Emma when you see her. Emma loves spending her days with her beautiful Chinese crested dog Eva, at the beach or on her yoga mat, or on a really good day she gets to do them all at the same time!
Caroline Engel - Cert lV
Caroline arrived in Australia in 2008 from France to pursue a career in engineering. A few years later she decided to study veterinary nursing to follow her lifelong passion of working with animals. She completed her course in November 2015, and after welcoming her gorgeous son in 2016, she joined Erina Heights Vets Hospital where she is eager to give the best of herself. At home, she belongs to Kiya the tuxedo cat and Rio the sun conure!
