Erina Heights Vet Hospital Services
Hydrotherapy - Aqua Paws Plus Underwater Treadmill
Our Aqua Paws Plus heated underwater
treadmill is a leap forward in
technology available at Erina Heights
Vet Hospital to treat a range of:
1.
orthopaedic conditions (post-surgery,
rehabilitation, arthritis and injury);
2. neurologic; geriatric; degenerative
and metabolic (obesity, slipped disc
rehab).
This therapy is unique – Your
dog will feel encouraged to exercise
painful limb(s) in a controlled indoor
environment:
• Relative buoyancy in
heated water
• Water height is
adjusted to suit individual dogs
•
Range of motion of all joints is
increased by 30% compared to walking on
dry land
• Treadmill movement
encourages the dog to walk
• A gentle
'graded' mode of rehabilitation
•
Activity level is precisely controlled
by speed and water depth
• Muscle
mass is restored more quickly compared
to other forms of exercise
•
Different muscle groups are activated in
hydrotherapy compared to gravity based
exercises
In short – dogs will use a
painful limb in the underwater treadmill
that they won't use outside!
